Horsehead Nebula (Bernard 33) in Orion

Dates: January 24, 2006
Exposure: LRGB: L=4x10min, RGB=6x5min each for 130 minutes total at -25C
Notes: The red emission nebula is known as IC 434.  The Horsehead nebula is Bernard 33 (B33) and is a dark nebula, that is, dust in the foreground, blocking the red emission nebula in the background.  This is just part of the nebula that covers most of the constellation Orion.  It is about 1,500 light years away.
