Notes: |
The Crab Nebula
is a supernova remnant, first noticed on July 4,
1054 AD, the new "star" was so bright it was visible
for 23 days during the daylight, and 653 days to the
naked eye at night. The central star is a
pulsar, a rapidly rotating neutron star, rotating 30
times per second. It is about 6,000 light
years away. |
